The New York Mets announced today that they have signed outfielder Yoenis Cespesdes for 4 years and $110 million. This is the largest free agent signing the Mets have had in their history. Cespedes will be making an average of $27.5 million over the next four years. This ties Alex Rodriguez for the seventh highest contract in Major League Baseball history and the largest contract for an outfielder on a multi-year deal. Cespedes will making $22.5 M, $29 M, $29 M, and $29.5 M over the next four years and has a full no-trade clause. This is a huge signing for the Mets since they needed to have Cespedes back in their lineup. He is a huge presence in their lineup and will play a key role this season as a right-handed outfielder power bat which is something the Mets have lacked over the years. Cespedes will help protect Neil Walker and the rest of the lineup and take a lot of pressure off of the rest of the offense.
