Mets Lose to Brewers 3-1 on Opening Day After Offense Struggles

 The New York Mets lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 3-1 at Citi Field on Opening Day and dropped their record to 0-1.

LHP Jose Quintana started out well with three scoreless innings, but gave up a solo homer to LF Christian Yelich in the top of the fourth.

Quintana gave up a sacrifice fly to catcher Wilson Contreras in the top of the fifth and was taken out later in the inning.

His final line was 4.2 innings, six hits, two runs, two walks and four strikeouts.

RHP Drew Smith followed with 1.1 scoreless innings.

RHP Jorge Lopez gave up a RBI ground-out to RF Jackson Churino in the top of the seventh.

RHP Michael threw two scoreless innings in the top of the eighth and ninth innings.

The Met offense did not do much all game outside of a solo homer by RF Starling Marte in the bottom of the second managing only one hit.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, March 30 at home against the Brewers at 1:40 p.m.
