There has been a lot of speculation who the player will be named later will be that the Mets received when they traded Ike Davis to the Pirates on April 18th.
Several beat writers have speculated that the PTBL is Neil Kozikowski, an 18 year old RHP from Connecticut. The Mets have to wait until June 21th to sign him since that will be the one year anniversary with the Pirates last season. He possesses a fastball in the mid 80's.
He also mixes in a slider, changeup, and cutter. Last year in his first year of pro ball, he had a 2.63 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP in 24 innings.
If it turns out Kozikowski is the PTBL for Ike, I think that he is worth taking a look at. There's always a need for young pitching. He might prove to be an important member of the Mets starting rotation or bullpen in the next few years.
