Mets Hire Glenn Sherlock As Bench Coach

Mets bench coach Glenn Sherlock (Photo Credits to MetsMerizedOnline.com) The New York Mets announced tonight that they have hired Glenn Sherlock as their new bench coach. Sherlock was with the Pittsburgh Pirates the last two seasons to help assist manager Derek Shelton and bench coach Don Kelly. His main job with the Pirates was working with the catchers and defensive run production. Prior to the Pirates, Sherlock worked with the Mets from 2016-2019 as third base coach and catching instructor. Before the Mets, Sherlock worked with the Arizona Diamondbacks from 1998-2016 as the team's bullpen coach, but also spent time as bench coach in 2003, first base coach in 2004 and third base coach in 2004 and 2014. He began his coaching career with the New York Yankees in the minor leagues with the Rookie-Level Gulf-Coast Yankees and also managed the Fort Lauderdale Yankees. Sherlock worked with the Yankees for 10 years as a minor league player, coach or manager. He has a lot of experience working with manager Buck Showalter since they worked together with the Diamondbacks and Yankees.

Mets Hire Eric Chavez As Hitting Coach

Chavez was just announced as the New York Yankees assistant hitting coach a couple of weeks ago. He was also special assistant to Yankees GM Brian Cashman in 2015 following his retirment as a player and then moved to the Los Angeles Angeles where he was special assistant to Mets GM and former Angels GM Billy Eppler through the 2020 season. Chavez had a stellar playing career winning six gloves at third base and also won one Sliver Slugger Awards and finished in top 30 of MVP voting four times with 230 career homers in 17 seasons with the Oakland Athletics, Arizona Diamondbacks and Yankees.

Mets Finalizing Deal To Hire Joey Cora As Next Third Base Coach

Mets third base coach Joey Cora (Photo Credits to Getty Images) The New York Mets are finalizing a deal with Joey Cora as the team's new third base coach replacing Gary DiSarcina according to Mike Puma of the NY Post. Cora spent the previous five years as the Pittsburgh Pirates third base coach. He begin his coaching career in the Mets minor league system and was also on the Chicago White Sox and Miami Marlins coaching staffs. Cora played in the Major Leagues for 11 years with the San Diego Padres, White Sox, Seattle Mariners and Cleveland Indians. He is the older brother of Red Sox manager and former Met infielder Alex Cora.

Mets Expected To Hire Wayne Kirby For First Base Coach

Mets first base coach Wayne Kirby (Photo Credits to Wendell Cruz-USA Today Sports) The New York announced today that they are expected to hire Wayne Kirby as their first coach coach according to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal. Kirby was previously the first base/outfield coach for the San Diego Padres in the 2020 and 2021 seasons. He was also the first base and outfield coach for the Baltimore Orioles under manager Buck Showalter from 2011-2018. He played for the Mets for the one year in 1998 and also played for the Cleveland Indians and Los Angeles Dodgers.
