Mets Hire Gary DiSarcina As New Bench Coach
The New York Mets announced today that they have hired Gary DiSarcina to be their new beach coach. DiSarcina was the bench coach for the Boston Red Sox last year and the third and first base coach for the Los Angeles Angels from 2014-2016. He has had some experience managing in the minors leagues for the Red Sox from 2007-2009 and was their Triple-A manager in 2013. His record in the minor leagues was 205-162.

Mets Pick Up Asdrubal Cabrera's Option
The New York Mets announced today that they have picked up infielder Asdrubal Cabrera's option for next year. Cabrera will be paid $8.5 million instead of getting of a $2 million buyout. Last year, he hit. 280 with 14 homers and 59 RBI's. Cabrera finished up strong in September and October with a .371 average after requesting for a trade due to his unhappiness after being asked by the team to no longer serve as the every day shortstop. While playing third base, Cabrera fared better defensively making six errors while making eleven errors at shortstop.
Mets Pick Up Jerry Blevins's Option
The New York Mets announced today that they picked up LHP Jerry Blevins $7 million option for the 2018 season. Last year, Blevins ended up with a 2.94 ERA, 3.12 FIP, and a .228 BAA along with 69 strikeouts in 49.0 innings. Against left-handed hitters, he held them to a .195 average and .202 slugging percentage with 48 strikeouts in 34 innings. Blevins was acquired from the Washington Nationals in 2015 after he was traded for CF Matt den Decker.

Mets Hire Pat Roessler as New Hitting Coach
The New York Mets announced yesterday that assistant hitting coach Pat Roessler was hired as the team's hitting coach and will replace Kevin Long. Roessler was the assistant hitting coach from 2015-2017. Previously he was the director of player development with the New York Yankees from 2005-2014 as well as hitting coach with the Montreal Expos from 2000-2001.
Mets Hire Dave Eiland As Pitching Coach
The New York Mets announced yesterday that former Royals pitching coach Dave Eiland as been hired as the new pitching coach and Dan Warthen's replacement. Eiland worked for the Royals from 2011-2016. He was also the pitching coaching for the New York Yankees from 2008-2010. He has some prior experience with Manager Mickey Callaway after they both played for the Tampa Bays Rays.
