The New York Mets acquired RHP Freddy Peralta and RHP Tobias Myers for prospects Brandon Sproat and Jett Williams.

Peralta is coming off an All-Star season in 2025 with a 2.70 ERA in 33 starts and led the National League in wins with 17.

He was also named to the NL All-Star team in 2021.

Peralta has a lifetime record of 70-42 with a 3.59 ERA. He is in the last year of his contract before he becomes a free agent.

His repertoire includes a fastball in the mid 90's, change-up, curveball and one of the game's best sliders.

Myers is a starter and reliever "swingman" He has 31 career starts and 18 relief appearances and a career ERA of 3.15. Myers has five years of team control and will serve out of both the bullpen and rotation.

With the acquisition of Peralta, the Mets now have a legitimate ace at the top of the starting rotation that they have desperately needed along with Nolan McLean.

Their rotation now features more depth with Peralta and McLean as well as LHP Sean Manaea, RHP Kodai Senga, LHP David Peterson, RHP Clay Holmes as well as prospects RHP Jonah Tong and RHP Christian Scott.

The New York Mets acquired Chicago White Sox CF Luis Robert Jr for infielder Luisangel Acuna and pitching prospect Truman Pauley.

He is owed $20 million for this season and has a $20 million club option for next year.

Robert Jr had a hamstring injury this past season, but finished up strong in the second half with six homers, 11 SB, 21 RBI and a .840 OPS over the final two months.

Two years ago, he had an outstanding season with 38 homers and a .857 OPS and finished 12th in AL MVP voting.

Robert Jr has shown flashes in his careers and that when he stays healthy, he is an excellent fielder who can steal bases and hit for power.

Hopefully he will benefit from a change of scenery and have the kind of production this year that he had in 2024 and hold down centerfield while outfield prospects Carson Benge and Jett Williams await their turn to be called up to the major leagues.
