The New York Mets signed utility man Joey Wendle today pending physical.

Wendle was an All-Star with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2021, but struggled with the Miami Marlins in 2023 hitting .212 with two home runs and 20 RBI in 318 plate appearances.

He brings versatility and even though was a primary shortstop last season, has also played second base and third base in the past.

Wendle can serve as a back-up to Francisco Lindor and Jeff McNeil as well as third base.

The New York Mets are signing RHP Luis Severino to a one-year $13 million deal.

Severino was a two-time All-Star with the Yankees, but is coming off a rough 2023 season with a 6.65 ERA in 89 1/3 innings before he was shut down with an oblique injury.

Hopefully he will be able to bounce back and get back to the form he was pre-injury.
