Mets Lost to Giants 3-2 For Fifth Consecutive Loss And Fail To Get Timely Hit

Mets RHP Marcus Stroman (Photo Credits to MetsMerizedOnline.com) The New York Mets lost to the San Francisco Giants 3-2 tonight in San Francisco for their fifth consecutive loss and dropped their record to 59-60 falling under .500 for the first time since May 5th. RHP Marcus Stroman gave up a two-run homer to 2B Tommy La Stella in the bottom of the first, but settled down after that. Stroman gavev up a solo homer to 3B Evan Longoria and was taken out after the inning. His final line was 7 innings, 5 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks and 9 strikeouts. LHP Aaron Loup followed with a scoreless bottom of the eighth. The offense didn't do much for the first seven innings until the top of the eighth after pinch-hitter Dom Smith led off with a single and then 1B Pete Alonso hit a two-run homer. In the top of the ninth, 2B Jeff McNeil led off with a single, but LF Kevin Pillar struck out to end the game. Their struggles with men on base continued after they were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. They are 4-41 with runners in scoring position in the last five games. The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon at the Giants at 3:45 p.m.
